Resources

“On this page, I write my last confession…”  No no no…that’s Les Miserables.  This page is the resources page.

Pretty much, anything we believe aids you in your writing, you’ll find it here.  Not in any order or even dress-right-dress.  Check this page often as we will continuously update it.

Websites

The #1 site for content about screenwriting, in our humble opinions, is Go Into The Story.

https://gointothestory.blcklst.com/  We can’t say enough good things about this site.  It would take a year to get through all the content Scott Myers has put on this site.

https://www.anonymousproductionassistant.com/ This is a great site for anyone looking to break into the biz in any way, such as assistants or crew members. They also offer resume services to tailor your resume to the industry.

Books, Books, Books, and More Books

These are the books we have in our library that we recommend.
(Full disclosure, the links below are affiliate links – they cost you nothing extra, and they give us some revenue to keep doing what we are doing.)

“Save The Cat” by Blake Snyder. This is our absolute favorite for beginners. It was this book that brought our screenwriting together and made the planning and outlining and, ultimately, the writing, easier. We recommend this book for any person starting out with any kind of storytelling.

“The Screenwriter’s Bible” by Dave Trottier. Dave Trottier’s classic guide to screenwriting format is quintessential, and should be in every screenwriter’s library.

“Story” by Gary McKee

“The Protagonist’s Journey: An Introduction to Character-Driven Screenwriting and Storytelling” by Scott Myers

“TV Development Guide: How an Idea Becomes a TV Show” by Stephanie Varella. Stephanie was one of our instructors at UCLA, and her approach to TV storytelling was easy to understand, and her book is just as much. She is the inspiration for E.T.S. Story Development.

“The Coffee Break Screenwriter: Writing Your Script Ten Minutes at a Time” by Pilar Alessandra

“Screenwriting Tricks for Authors (and Screenwriters!): STEALING HOLLYWOOD: Story structure secrets for writing your BEST book” by Alexandra Sokoloff
